A U.S. District Judge Brian Murphy has ruled in favor of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAM), other medical groups suing RFK Jr. and the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) over several key aspects of Kennedy's vaccine agenda, including the number of vaccines recommended for children and the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), a panel of outside advisors organized by the CDC to guide vaccine policy. The court decision prevents the government from reducing the recommended vaccines for children, a policy announced earlier this year. The lawsuit originally argued that Kennedy had overstepped his legal authority as HHS chief by unilaterally reviving the government's recommendation that most children and pregnant women receive the covid-19 vaccine. The ruling also prevents the latest ACIP from moving forward with the CDC’s decision to only widely recommend 11 childhood vaccines and also halt the latest iteration of the ACIP. The federal government plans to appeal the court's injunctions, but there is no guarantee that the court will ultimately rule in favour of the AAP and its partners.
