Austin Water has been awarded a Technological Innovation Award for its My ATX Water meter replacement and customer portal initiative. The initiative was part of the initiative to modernize its water metering system and address long-standing operational issues. As of this month, the utility has installed nearly 267,000 meters, providing real-time data for customers. The new system has saved customers an estimated 1.2 billion gallons of water through leak notifications and ongoing repairs. The award was given to the 2026 Smart Cities North America Awards.
