The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported a significant shift in how countries are responding to the health needs of refugees and migrants, with over 60 countries now including them in their national health policies and laws. The report, based on data from 93 Member States, establishes the first global baseline for tracking progress toward inclusive, migrant-responsive health systems. Investment in refugee and migrant health supports better social and economic integration, strengthen the resilience of health systems and reduce long-term costs. However, access to health services remains uneven, with refugees generally more likely to access services than migrants in irregular situations. Only 42% of responding countries regularly use migration-related health data as part of national health information systems. WHO has urged governments, partners, and donors to accelerate progress in these efforts.
