At Least 26 People Dead, Including 5 Children, After Bus Plunges into River

A bus carrying around 40 passengers crashed into the Padma River in central Bangladesh on March 25, killing at least 26 people, including 5 children. The Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) confirmed the deaths on their Facebook page. So far, 23 bodies have been recovered by the fire service, 2 by local people, and 1 by a navy diver. The bus was reportedly traveling from the district of Kushtia to Dhaka. Despite 8 people being rescued alive, 2 women were declared dead at the Goaland Upazila Health Complex. The operation was hampered by strong currents and heavy rainfall.
