1 big thing we're watching in this week's market just as important as Iran

Wall Street's recent rally off wartime lows and new highs is set to face a challenging earnings calendar this week. Companies such as GE Vernova, ServiceNow, and Cleveland-Cliffs are expected to report. These reports will provide insights into what the Iran war has impacted businesses and economic activity over the past six-plus weeks. Stocks held up better than expected during the sell-off, largely due to expectations that many companies could still grow earnings this year. However, this earnings season will determine whether this is the right investment. Key to this week's market is the progress on Capital One's acquisitions of credit-card issuer Discover and expense management startup Brex. Boeing is expected to release its first-quarter plane deliveries and its commercial backlog was over 6,100 planes valued at a record $567 billion at the end of Q4. GE's total backlog of orders ended last year at $150 billion.
