Writers Guild Awards Los Angeles Ceremony Canceled Amid Internal Labor Strike

The Writers Guild of America West (WGAW) has cancelled its annual awards show on March 8 in Los Angeles due to staff striking over unfair labor practices. An alternative celebration for this year's Los Angeles-based nominees will be held at a later date. The Writers Guild Staff Union (WGSU) has been picketing outside their headquarters for a week and alleges that management for the writers’ union raised the possibility of scrapping the 2026 Writers Guild Awards in a recent call about contract negotiations.
