Jets counting on 3 first-round draft picks to accelerate rebuild

The New York Jets have made three first-round draft picks in the 2022 season, with general manager Darren Mougey and head coach Aaron Glenn hoping these will accelerate their rebuild. They selected Texas Tech edge rusher David Bailey (No. 2 overall) and Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq (No 16). They also traded into the end of the first round to select Indiana wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. All three players played in the College Football Playoffs and won the national championship for their respective teams. Despite a debate about whether the Jets should select Bailey over Ohio State linebacker Arvell Reese, the Jets chose Bailey over Reese. Bailey was the best pass rusher in the nation last year and is expected to deliver immediate results.
