Gas prices are increasing across the US as the war with Iran continues to disrupt global energy markets. Crude oil has risen by 4%, and American diesel prices have reached $5 per gallon. Brent crude rose to $103 a barrel as US allies rejected Iran's blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. Despite this, major stock indexes have avoided a major selloff. The Dow Jones Industrial Average has slipped by less than 3% since the start of the war, while the S&P 500 is down by the same percent and the Nasdaq is little changed. The surge in gas prices is widespread, with prices ranging from the low $3s in some states to well above $4.50 on the West Coast.
