Wake school board chairman cited for speeding in a school zone

Wake County Board of Education Chairman, Tyler Swanson, was cited for speeding in a school zone in January. The citation stated that he was driving 47 miles per hour near West Cary Middle School. School zones are established by local ordinance and require slower driving in certain situations. Despite the citation, Swanson has stated his priority is to address the school district's financial issues.
