Nolan McLean, a New York Mets pitcher, is set to join Team USA in the World Baseball Championship after recovering from vertigo-like symptoms that were caused by a viral infection in his inner ear. The symptoms are now gone and McLean's focus has shifted to the WBC, where he is expected to leave soon for a meeting with Team USA as soon as Thursday and is scheduled to pitch against Team Italy on March 10. If the U.S. advances to the final of the tournament, McLean will also pitch if the team makes the final, as well. His performance in this game was seen as a promising development as a top-tier pitcher, joining a pitching staff that includes Mets teammate Clay Holmes, Tarik Skubal, Paul Skenes and Logan Webb.
