Farragut, a prominent Illinois high school basketball team, ended their unlikely run to the state finals by defeating Quincy Notre Dame 64-45 in the 2A semifinals. The Admirals' coach, William "Wolf" Nelson, struggled to maintain the program despite having just 10 or 11 players and no sophomore team. Emmanuel Little, who took over as coach three years ago, took over and Nelson became athletic director. The team's unlikely run is a testament to the love and care Nelson and Little have for their school. Farraggut's senior, Latrell Kelley, led the team to upset playoff wins against Phillips and Crane. They will face Peoria Manual in the next 2A title game.
