Democrats await ranked choice vote in Maine to decide key House nominee

Former Republican Gov. Paul LePage is set to compete in the general election in Maine's 2nd District, where the Democratic field is uncertain. The seat is being vacated by Democrat Jared Golden, a conservative Democrat who has held onto the seat multiple times, and his decision to retire jeopardizes Democrats' ability to retain the seat. Joe Baldacci, a state senator and son of a former governor, is leading the pack with a significant boost from the House Democratic campaign committee and the top House Democratic super PAC. Meanwhile, in South Carolina, state Sen. Wes Climer ran unopposed in the Republican primary to replace Rep. Ralph Norman.
