Flooding continues across parts of northeast Illinois, with rivers expected to crest at or near crest levels due to heavy rainfall. Major flooding is ongoing along the Fox River Chain of Lakes, where water levels have remained steady in flood stage and are expected to begin a slow decline starting Friday. Roads, homes, yards, and park areas are affected in communities around Nippersink Lake, Fox Lake and Pistakee Lake. Flood warnings are also in place along portions of the Des Plaines River, where minor flooding is occurring. Roadways around the Chain O' Lakes have been closed due to flooding, and officials have urged drivers to avoid flooded roads.
