‘It’s like an aquarium:’ Anchorage man puts thousands of bees in his living room

An Anchorage, Alaska, man, Tim Huffman, has brought an observation hive indoors to allow him to observe what his hives are doing. The hive connects to the outdoors through a pipe, allowing bees to freely move in and out of the hive. This allows him to watch what is happening inside the hive, storing nectar, laying eggs, and maintaining the hive in a new way. The observation hive also provides valuable insights for Huffman's beekeeping operation. He has not yet decided whether the hive will stay indoors through the winter, but may move it to the garage.
