Screenwriters overwhelmingly approve a 4-year contract with Hollywood studios

The members of the screenwriters union have overwhelmingly ratified a four-year agreement with Hollywood studios and streamers, ending a prolonged strike the previous year. The agreement was reached between the Writers Guild of America West, Writers Guild Guild of England East, and Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. The unions emphasized gains in health coverage and minimum pay increases, particularly for comedy and variety writers. The deal follows a successful negotiation process involving actors and directors. The Directors Guild is set to begin its contract talks on May 11.
