Commonwealth Fusion Systems has filed a request with grid operator PJM to connect its planned power plant in Virginia to the grid, marking the first time a fusion developer has filed such a detailed request. The move comes as part of a larger effort to connect the power plant to the world, with expectations that it will be commercialized in the early 2030s. The company is working with utility partner Dominion Energy and plans to generate 400 megawatts from a fusion reactor near Richmond.
