A tenant has complained about a new policy from their landlord, charging $20 per night for any guest who stays past 10 p.m. to cover "additional wear and tear on the common areas and increased utility usage". The tenant, who already pays $2,000 a month for a one-bedroom apartment, described the rule as excessive and invasive. Many commenters questioned whether the policy was legal as it was not included in the original lease terms and could violate tenant's right to “free enjoyment” of their rented space. The tenant's sister planned to stay with them after surgery and they had to register her sister's ID and pay $100 upfront for five nights.
