Study: Valley Children’s drives more than $1B in regional economic activity

A new study by the Bay Area Council Economic Institute has found that Valley Children’s Healthcare is a major economic engine in the Central Valley, supporting thousands of jobs and generating over $1 billion in annual activity. The study estimates that the organization generates roughly $1.02 billion in economic output annually across its 12-county service area, with a total impact often exceeding $1."2 billion. The organization's spending on wages, operations and capital investment exceeds $600 million annually, supporting 6,170 full-time equivalent jobs across the region, including over 3,200 positions within the Valley Children's system. The report also highlighted the system's role as a regional anchor institution, employing more than 3,300 workers whose wages exceed regional averages.
