Hudson Mayes, a freshman guard at UC San Diego, announced he will transfer to UNM next season. Chris Howell, another UCSD transfer, announced that the NCAA approved a waiver for Howell's return to play for UNM for the next season after suffering from an oblique injury. Howell had previously played 35 games at UCSD and helped lead the Big West to the championship and the NCAA Tournament. This is the second consecutive transfer for the UNM team from UCSD has come to Albuquerque. Mayes' transfer comes despite reports of St. John's forward Imran Suljanovic's transfer to the team being confirmed by the school or player.
