An international group, The Society for Evidence-Based Gender Medicine, has released a report criticising a review of a Utah review of youth transgender treatments that has been largely ignored by state lawmakers who commissioned it. The group, led by physicians from the United States, Britain, and Australia, identified critical flaws with the review's methods and its omission of crucial information about risks of infertility and regret. The review was intended to be a systematic analysis of evidence regarding hormonal transgender treatments for minors, but it was not systematic and left out key details about risks. The report found that the review had major gaps in its analysis and did not include studies that were synthesized, evaluated for quality or checked for bias. It also failed to fully disclose potential conflicts of interest. Despite these flaws, the review has been cited as a counterpoint to other reviews conducted by the UK's Cass Review and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
