A survey conducted by the Miami Herald has found that many Cubans and Cuban Americans in South Florida are unhappy with the Trump administration over its treatment of migrants from the Caribbean island. The majority, including 68 percent of Cubans without criminal records, strongly or somewhat disapprove of the administration's plan to deport undocumented Cuban nationals. The survey also found that 81 percent of respondents agreed that the administration should allow Cubans to immigrate to the U.S. legally. This comes amid increasing tensions between the United States and Cuba, where an oil embargo has led to an economic and energy crisis and a worsening humanitarian crisis. The State Department has also halted the processing of immigration visas from Cuba and 74 other countries, and announced plans to phase out parole programs that allowed some people to live and work in the US.
