U.S. Rep. David Scott, who served in elected office for over 50 years, was mourned at a service at the state Capitol in Atlanta. Atlanta's current mayor and two former mayors attended the service. The Iranian American Community of Georgia described Scott as an icon and a fighter who spent over half his life serving others. His body was transported to the Capitol and laid in state in the Capitol rotunda. The service included speeches from current mayors, former mayors Bill Campbell and Andy Young. Scott died at the age of 80. His homegoing service will be held on May 2 at Elizabeth Baptist Church.
