Survivors remember Good Friday earthquake 62 years later

The 1964 Alaska earthquake, one of the largest-ever recorded, occurred on Good Friday on March 27, 1964. The magnitude 9.2 earthquake hit in which survivors remember the moments they witnessed. Survivors, including Arlene Raney and Patricia Schmidt, shared their memories in old newspaper clippings and photos. Raney, now 88, was in her late 20s when the earthquake occurred, and Schmidt, who was nine years old when she witnessed it at a movie theater watching Sword and Stone with her family. Other survivors recalled seeing buildings completely destroyed and hearing the sound of the roar. The stories of these individuals keep survivors connected, with the dwindling dwindling numbers of survivors.
