The top-ranked Duke Blue Devils defeated St. John’s Red Storm 80-75 in the Sweet 16, advancing to their second consecutive Elite 8. The game was a back-and-forth affair, with St.John's leading by one point, 40-39, and the Red Storm starting with a 15-1 run to make it 55-45 with 15 minutes left to play. Despite Caleb Foster returning from injury, scoring 11 points in 19 minutes, the game ended in a victory for the Blue Devils. The return of the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year, Cameron Boozer, led to a 22-point performance.
