Intestinal infection linked to animal yoga, health officials warn

Nevada health officials are investigating cases of cryptosporidiosis, an infection caused by a parasite. It spreads when small amounts of fecal matter from infected animals are ingested. The most common symptom is diarrhea, followed by stomach cramps and vomiting. Steps can be taken to reduce the risk of infection, including thorough handwashing and use EPA-approved disinfectants for cleaning areas contaminated with animal feces. Additionally, farms and organizations offering animal-based activities should maintain clear waste-management protocols.
