Lifeguard James Parker and YMCA staff member Brian Myers were awarded Citizens Awards for their heroic actions during a life-threatening incident at Southdale YmCA in January. They pulled a swimmer from the water and performed CPR, applied an automated defibrillator, and transported him to the hospital. The incident occurred when the swimmer was in full cardiac arrest and had no pulse and was not breathing.
