As of 8:20 p.m., 59 percent of voters are in favor of the proposed $38 million tax hike, with an estimated $140 annual increase for the owner of a $400,000 house. The money would be used to rebuild the Tri-State fire station in Darien, which is currently on a compact site that cannot accommodate any additions needed to meet modern standards. The district argues that a rebuild would avoid maintaining outdated systems, inefficient layouts, and other issues.
