Dog, Mistaken for Dead, Found on Side of Road with Over 800 Ticks Covering His Body

A dog named Tony was found on the side of a road in Wolcott, Connecticut, covered in over 800 ticks and initially believed to be dead. The Wolcott Police Department (WPD) also runs the town pound. Good Samaritans stopped to check on Tony, who was then secured and transported to the Wolcott Dog Pound. Upon examining Tony's body, authorities found his body was completely infested with ticks, including multiple bite wounds and punctures. He underwent a thorough exam and bloodwork, and received vaccines. Tony will return to the vet on May 4 for bloodwork and evaluation. Police are now seeking donations for Tony's recovery.
