The gunman, 31-year-old man, believed to have targeted members of the Trump administration during the White House Correspondents' Association dinner. The shooting outside the hotel ballroom triggered a chaotic scene inside, leading to the evacuation of President Trump. The suspect reportedly took trains from California to Chicago and then to Washington, where he checked into the hotel where much of the nation's power structure would gather. The motive behind the attack remains under investigation.
