House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) has stated that Democrats will not focus on impeaching President Trump if they regain a majority in the House after the midterms. Instead, Jeffries stated that their top priority is to reduce the high cost of living. He also criticized President Trump for increasing gas costs during the Iran war and for telling House Republicans he would be impeached if they did not win the midterm. Despite efforts to remove Trump were largely stalled after Democrats acknowledged they lacked the votes to do so. Jeffries has also praised Democrats' push for redistricting nationwide in an effort to gain additional House seats and suggested that the party would advocate more for working-class Americans.
