UNM's Habtom Samuel wins NCAA indoor 5K title

UNM's Habtom Samuel, the first Lobo to win national championships in cross country and both indoor and outdoor track and field, won the men's 5,000-meter final at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He finished in 13 minutes and 36.58 seconds, beating Villanova's Marco Langon by 0.4 seconds. Samuel is also the 10th runner to achieve this feat in program history. In the women's 5K final, UNM sophomore Pamela Kosgei finished third behind BYU's Jane Hedengren and Alabama's Doris Lemngole, earning All-America honors for the sixth time in her collegiate career.
