A New Mexican men Bob Perls and Sydni Gonzalez, a State Department-certified German diplomat and former German diplomat, have created a nonprofit group, the New Mexico German Economic Alliance, to strengthen economic ties between Germany and New Mexico. The founders hope the group will create jobs and wealth in New Mexico and help German companies succeed in the state. The alliance is inspired by the NM Nexus Center, a business incubator in Albuquerque’s Mesa del Sol, which is hosting companies from other countries. The group aims to incorporate as a 501(c)(6) business league and is seeking matching state funding from New Mexico, with a high-level delegation from Munich visiting New Mexico this week. The German government funds the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, an applied research organization staffed with thousands of engineers.
