"Where You Work Matters" index rates employers on upward mobility

The "Where You Work Matters" index has been created by the Schultz Family Foundation and the Burning Glass Institute, in partnership with Harvard Business School's Managing the Future of Work Project. The index ranks 1,750 employers across 55,000 occupations and rewards them for supporting workers' upward mobility. The highest-rated companies included CarMax's financial analysts and Instacart's software engineers. Software and technology companies, many of which have high profit margins and can invest in their workforce, were identified as the most successful ones. However, customer-service representatives were among the least appreciated and highest-turnover roles.
