Dennis Wilson, the late Beach Boy, released Pacific Ocean Blue in 1977, his first solo album, in which "Rainbows" was featured in the sci-fi blockbuster Project Hail Mary and the HBO series DTF St. Louis. The song was co-written with Wilson’s brother, Carl, and Stephen Kalinich, and was used in both films and the flashback scene of the episode of the show, "Amphezyne," which aired its fifth episode on March 29. Wilson was the first Beach Boy to release a solo album and died in 1983 at age 39. His follow-up album, Bambu, was still in progress at the time of his death.
