A new regulation in Guangzhou, China, has been introduced to inform customers about the making of dim sum, the bite-sized delicacies from southern China. The rule requires restaurants to disclose whether their dim sum is handmade in-house or produced via "non-traditional manufacturing". The regulation is aimed at protecting the intangible cultural heritage of Guangzhou. Restaurants complying with the requirements will be presented with a plaque declaring them a "traditional store." Officials also encourage businesses to provide customers a glimpse of how dim sum makes.
