Zacharia Barkho, the team's ace last season, is returning to pitch for South Elgin, where he led the team to a sectional title. Despite an increased workload, Barkho went 8-2 with a 1.29 ERA and threw 68 innings in the process. David Palmer, the only coach the program has ever had, took over for Barkho. Palmer noted that Barkho's energy and ability to compete were key to their success. The team is eager to build on last season's success, with players planning to play together next season at Elgin Community College.
