The U.S.-Israel war with Iran could impact the semiconductor industry's access to key materials and potentially increase demand for chips central to the artificial intelligence boom. The conflict has led to a sell-off in equity markets before President Donald Trump announced that the war will end soon. Memory chipmakers SK Hynix and Samsung have seen over $200 billion wiped off their combined value since the start of the war. A South Korean lawmaker warned that the Iran war could disrupt access to crucial materials from the Middle East, such as helium, and potentially lead to higher energy prices. The Semiconductor Industry Association warned that if helium supply were disrupted, there would likely be shocks to the global semiconductor manufacturing industry. Rising energy costs could also impact the industry as much of semiconductor demand is for data centers training and running large AI models.
