Utah businessman Eric Richins died in 2022 from a fentanyl overdose, which his wife Kouri Richins caused by injecting his drink with a poison. Despite being convicted of murder in March, Kouri was able to collect over $1.39 million from her husband's life insurance policies in the 14 months leading up to his death. Prosecutors are urging the court to make Kouri return these funds, which she still holds. They argue that Kouri's actions support a life sentence without parole and that she should remain in prison until the day she dies. Kouri has maintained her innocence and is currently being held at the Summit County Jail.
