Lebanon says ceasefire must be in place before Israel talks

A senior official from the Lebanese president's office has stated that Lebanon will participate in direct negotiations with Israel only if there is a ceasefire in place. This comes after a series of deaths, including seven members of the same family in Abbassieh and 11 in Zrarieh. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) also struck about 10 rocket launchers used by Hezbollah and is continuing to locate and destroy more. The direct talks between Lebanon and Israel are rare, with the two countries traditionally communicating through intermediaries.
