Dutch national Rene Pouw, a tourist from the Netherlands, was attacked by two knife-wielding assassins on a motorbike and hacked to death in front of his girlfriend on the street in Bali. The victim's girlfriend, a 30-year-old Indonesian woman identified only by the initials PI, witnessed the attack and was pursued down the street with a bloody knife. Poulw suffered knife wounds to his head, neck, shoulder, and lower thighs, as he attempted to defend himself against the attack. The incident follows a spate of violent murders on the island, with last month a Ukrainian man being kidnapped, tortured, and beheaded by alleged members of the Chechen mafia.
