A romance scammer used AI to trick a Brazilian retiree into believing she was dating British pop star James Blunt, stealing over $10,000 from her for over a year. The scammer made fake AI-generated photos and videos of Blunt speaking to the 57-year-old Brazilian victim. He claimed to be living in a London hotel after separating from his wife and wanted to fly to Brazil to meet her. The fraudster claimed he was cash-poor due to a falling out with his "manager," who blocked his bank accounts, and needed a small loan to buy a plane ticket to visit her. However, when she traveled to meet him, he never showed up.
