Senate Republican says there’s ‘no end in sight’ for partial shutdown

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) has stated that there is no end in sight for the partial government shutdown that has shuttered the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for 36 days. The shutdown has affected airports across the country as TSA agents work without pay for the second time in six months. Senate Democrats have refused to back a funding bill that includes funds for Immigration and Customs Enforcement without reforms to current policies. The Democratic caucus has blocked a House-passed bill to fund ICE and TSA, marking the fifth consecutive rejection of the DHS appropriations bill.
