President Donald Trump has threatened to deploy Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers to perform airport security if Democrats fail to agree to a funding bill for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). This comes after the Senate failed to advance a measure to end the funding lapse. Democrats are holding firm on their demands to rein in ICE's aggressive tactics, following the deaths of two U.S. citizens at the hands of federal agents during a deportation attempt in Minneapolis. In addition to airport screening, ICE officers will arrest immigrants that enter the country illegally, particularly those from Somalia. Meanwhile, Democrats are planning to force a vote on a proposal to fully fund the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and other non-immigration agencies.
