Kathrine Switzer, the first woman to run the Boston Marathon in 1967, still runs "30 to 40 miles" a week and has dedicated her life to increasing access to women's running. Despite health setbacks, she maintains that running is a necessity for her to maintain it. Her advocacy and leadership in Avon's international running programs, including the Avon International Running Circuit, led to the women's marathon being included in the 1984 Olympic Games. In 2015, Switzer launched a global nonprofit called 261 Fearless, which aims to empower women of all backgrounds through running. She shares her gratitude for the lifelong impact her work has had, even not yet born during her iconic marathon or the 1984 Olympics.
