An evacuation warning and advisory has been issued for several neighborhoods in Lahaina, Maui, as fast-moving floodwaters push a nearby retention basin close to capacity. The alerts were issued at 6 p.m. on March 14 for the Wahikuli and Leialiʻi areas below Ka La'i Ola, where heavy rain has caused water levels to rise. County crews are working to redirect overflow and pump water from the basin in an effort to reduce flooding risks. The Lahaina Civic Center has been identified as the nearest evacuation shelter.
