Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has called an emergency defence council meeting after explosives were found near a pipeline in Serbia that carries Russian gas to Hungary. The incident has raised political scrutiny in Hungary at a sensitive time ahead of a national election, where Orban's party is trailing in opinion polls. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic informed Orban about the discovery, which has led to heightened scrutiny for the country's political attention. Serbian officials have confirmed that the explosives found on the pipeline were produced in the United States. Orban suggested that Ukraine was responsible for the incident, but did not directly blame Ukraine.
