Gov. Abigail Spanberger has launched a "Commonwealth Listening Tour" to hear from teachers, parents, and students about the state of public education. The tour, part of Spanberger's day one commitment to academic excellence in public education, includes touring the specialized classrooms of Bethel High School and meeting with local administrators, educators, parents and students to discuss challenges and successes in their schools. In her order, Spanberger stated that far too many students still struggle to read at grade level and that Virginia ranked last in the nation in supporting students’ math recovery since the COVID-19 pandemic. Additional public input sessions are scheduled for Gloucester High School, Cumberland High School on March 9 and 11.
