Del Mar Fairgrounds CEO fired in closed-door session

The executive director of the Del Mar Fairgrounds, Carlene Moore, was fired following a closed-door meeting with the 22nd District Agricultural Association (22nd District) board. The board did not give a reason for Moore's dismissal. The fairgrounds have faced several lawsuits and controversies under Moore's leadership, including an agreement to pay the federal government $5.5 million for allegations that it received money from the Paycheck Protection Program during a pandemic despite not being eligible.
