Steven Soderbergh has revealed that he wanted to take on another IP, James Bond, in an interview with The Playlist. He initially proposed a "parallel franchise" in 2008, which would have included an R-rated, violent and sexy Bond movie. However, this idea was unsuccessful. Soderobergh also expressed his desire to direct a Daniel Craig era flick. He acknowledged that the "period piece Bond" angle could have been explored by other filmmakers but was not the primary focus of his pitch.
