A month-long poetry festival celebrating National Poetry Month and the 250th anniversary of independence will take place in Gainesville, Florida. The 4th Annual BARD & Broadside: North Central Florida Poetry Festival will run from April 9-26. Events include poetry readings, creative writing workshops, youth poetry and monologue competitions, open mics, poetry slams and live music. The festival's signature event, the Swamp-Berry Jam Poetry Slam, will serve as the official Florida State Poets Association 2026 Poetry Championship. All events are free and open to the public.
